Grandparenting

Description:
Factors such as incapacitation illness, substance abuse, incarceration, child abuse and neglect, domestic violence, and neighborhood crime have all affected a parent's ability to care for their own children. As a result, some grandparents are being called upon to provide support and assistance to their families in needed. Sometimes they find themselves serving as full-time surrogate parents. At these workshops, grandparents a will 'refresh' their parenting skills, learn how to build strong relationships with their adult children and understand how to access different social services for assistance with their role as surrogate parent. Eight workshop topics are available.
