As a licensed treatment facility through the New Jersey Division of Addiction Services, the agency offers counseling in a number of arenas. Key is the substance abuse counseling which is designed to set the group work for understand the nature of substance use/abuse, explore strategies and solutions that move toward healthier decisions.

Counseling is offered in all realms including addictions, marital, adolescent, life changes, etc. All major insurance plans are accepted, and sliding scale fees are available with documented need.

Staff who are trained and certified by the Johnson Institute, work with alcoholics, addicts, and their family and support system with the goal of helping the alcoholic/addict understand the nature of the disease, and to seek treatment.

EAP is a confidential, short-term counseling assessment and referral program to help employees resolve their personal problems. Companies in Hunterdon County may contract with Hunterdon Prevention Resources to provide counseling and training programs for their employees and the employees’ families.

Compulsive Gambling is now part of the assessment process and involves an on-line screening through the New Jersey Department of Health Compulsive Gambling Information System. This screening utilizes a series of questions to assess whether or not gambling may be a problem for the client. After assessing gambling as it pertains to the client’s lifestyle, the counselor may refer the client to a number of different treatment facilities.

An evaluation service provided to residents of Hunterdon County for the purpose of determining if an individual meets the criteria of the DSM IV for psychoactive substance abuse or dependency. Service includes three counseling sessions, a written report, and two urine screens.

Counseling will be conducted by a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist who will use strategies of counseling that have been found to be helpful in promoting behavior change with this age group. Interventions for tobacco dependence will be explored.
