Our keynote speaker will discuss the challenges we face as a nation with details on the recently released drug control policies from the White House. What are the new struggles with substance abuse, what initiatives are we implementing as a nation, how can we make a difference here in Hunterdon County? Jack oversees $95 million annually that funds over 750 communities nation-wide combating youth substance use (Hunterdon County is one of those communities). He will discuss the importance that local problems need local solutions

Prescription Drug Abuse
Lesley Gabel, Associate Executive Director,

 This workshop is an interactive session on the new challenges our youth face with prescription drugs within our nation and within Hunterdon County.  We will discuss how to access information on proper disposal, prevention efforts, and key resources. Our extensive research has unveiled a tremendous need in Hunterdon County for help in reducing prescription drug abuse.

Pam Fischer, Former Director, NJ Division of Highway Traffic Safety
 
Traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for teens - drivers are more likely to be involved in a crash during their first 12-24 months behind the wheel.  Pam will provide an update on teen driving and the deadly consequences of underage drinking and driving, as well as drug driving. This presentation could save a life.
 
The Culture Connection

This presentation will explore the role of alcohol in Latino culture, from attitudes about alcohol and alcoholism, to gender roles and the socio-political factors that influence alcohol consumption. We will also explore how the attitudes those immigrants bring with them about alcohol and its consumption and how those perceptions are or are not changed by life here in the United States.
